Bubble Blowing

Humpbacks blow bubbles to create "fishing nets" when the are feeding. This whale is clearly not feeding, as the warm waters of the Silver Bank are devoid of krill.

Females are known to blow bubbles during a "valentine". Females are in estrus less than a week after giving birth. Though she may become pregnant before heading back to the feeding grounds with her calf, it is more common that she has a calf every other year.
