Just beautiful, Doug...the photos, the music, everything...brings a tear to my eye. If I only go on one more Aggressor trip for the rest of my life, it's GOT to be this trip!! Again, thank you for sharing your amazing experience!!
This dramatization was created from material obtained from the National Archive and Records Administration in College Park, Maryland in 2008 as part of my research into the war in the Pacific. This film depicts events surrounding the attack against Truk in February 1944. Operation Hailstone was a surprise fast carrier attack against the Japanese Fourth Fleet supply base in Truk Lagoon. The National Archive and Records Administration and BBC Worldwide CBS News Archive retain all rights to the material in this film.
The reefs of Palau are richly colored and vibrant. The fish are abundant. Encounters with Whitetip Reef Sharks crusing along the wall are frequent. Palau is one of my favorite dive destinations!
Blue Corner in Palau is a premiere dive site for observing sharks. Blue Corner requires excellent diving skills, as the upwelling current flowing over the reef is very challenging. The only safe way to dive here is by anchoring oneself with a reef hook. Whitetip and Blacktip Reef Sharks are the predominant species present. Palau is also a great place to enjoy turtles! They can be seen on almost every dive as they cruise along the vibrant coral reefs.
